Harvester software is expressly prohibited
On more than one occassion, the site was down for a couple of days because I
exceeded my bandwidth limitation (20Gb!!!). Why? Because people are still
trying to download the entire site at once using mirroring tools (i.e. wget,
httrack, etc.). When I moved to PHPNuke, I could limit this a bit. Still,
there are people who clever enough to get around this.
However, it is still a violation of the copyright and the site terms of use. You are
expressly prohibited from downloading the entire site like that. Therefore,
doing so is illegal. Also when I run out of bandwidth, the site
is no longer accesible for anyone.
Plus, it makes no sense. The site is so constructed that almost every
page is created dynamically. You end up downloading 10s of megabytes
needlessly. Go to the
SourceForge project page
and download all of the content of the site in a single file. You can also
download a PFD file from SourceForge.
Finally, this site costs me real money out of my pocket. I get no
money (read: $0.00) from any of the sponsors. All goes to the
Jessie Arbogast Medical Fund.
If I need to increase bandwidth for people
using the site, I will, but it is unfair to force me to pay for extra
bandwidth because someone ignores the rules and downloads the whole site.
I am not some big corporation. I am a private person who is doing this
on my own to help others. So, please help me by not downloading the whole site
at once.
