i use messenger alot for work and just moved to linux how do i configure gaim ?

i tryed the basics but it comes up with protocal not supported also does it matter not filling in allies ( what is that for ? ) wat do i try and play with

oh right cheers for the help but i have checked the web for versions and sum do not work and wondred if u have a links u can provide me with to download a newer version of gaim ?

want to logon automatically when you launch GAIM, have GAIM remember your password and so on.
