I'm having trouble geting twitcam on the linux version of firefox
to work.
Accordingly to
http://www .adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
-> Test your Adobe Flash Player installation
I have flash version 10.0.45.2 which is the latest flash
version as of 5/13/10 (I installed it yesterday). When I
go to
http://twitcam .com
-> Broadcast Live (big red button at bottom)
-> [login to twitter account]
The right side, which has the online chat, works fine.
On the left side, which has the video, the top says
Click here to authorize Flash to access your
camera and microphone
and the bottom says
Adobe Flash Player Settings
Camera and Microphone Access
static.livestream.com is requesting
access to your camera and
microphone. If you click Allow, you may
be recorded.
If I click "Click here" or "Allow", nothing happens.
Nothing responds on the left side.
Is this
- a linux firefox bug
- a linux flash bug
- twitcam is using a window OS feature
- or what?
Is there any workaround?
Fyi, the webcam works just fine for cheese (linux "self"
camera program). Also the lspci data for this 701 eee
laptop is
If you have a working webcam, can you try
twitcam? On twitcam site, click Broadcast Live, login
your twitter account and try to start the flash video.
Btw, I can not get thru on the Adobe flash forum with either firefox or
opera using the latest flash version on the desktop or laptop. I want
to ask there first, but I can't. So I'm hoping you people have the answer.
Sorry, Shegchieh. I don't belong to twitter or have a webcam. I have no intention of ever joining twitter or buying a webcam either, so I just don't see how I can help you now or in the future.
I will do some Googling and see if I can find someone with a similar problem though. If I find something I'll post the links.
1.
Get the latest flash which correct the camera problem.
I used flashplayer version 10.1.53.64.
To upgrade flash, I went to synaptic package manager
(which linux Mint uses), search for flash, and upgrade
- flashplugin-installer
- flashplugin-nonfree
You probably don't need both, but I went ahead and
upgraded both. For other distros, you are on your own
i.e., figure out if you can upgrade flash via a package
manager, apt-get, or whatever. Worst case, get the
latest flashplayer from Adobe (again, you are on your
own)
