Hello everyone,

I want to install Fedora 9 as the second OS on my computer. So there was only one partition and using partion magic I resized it but didn't format because I was not certain about the right file system. And I searched on the internet and people talk about different types of file systems that I've never heard of. I thought ext 3 would be a good Idea but most users recommend some other file systems and I don't have any idea how to format my drive using that type of file system.

I'd be grateful to you if anyone can help me out to install fedora.

1. Do I need to format my partition before I start installation?

2. As I have already installed XP, is it possible to install Linux now and how do I make it a dual boot system?

3. If you have any good advise related to this, please do let me know

Cheers

Greetings,

It's been a long time since I used a dual boot computer (ok, work doesn't count...but then the IT guys set this one up). Rather than reinvent the wheel, there already is plenty of information available on the web that answers your questions. I did a quick Google and found these links:

http://www.overclockersclub.com/guides/dual_boot_fedora_xp/

http://sensiblerationalization.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-configure-dual-boot-with-fedora.html

Just for giggles, I tried the same thing using Cuil and got these results:

http://www.cuil.com/search?q=Dual+Boot+Linux

Have a look at these resources (particularly the first two links) and see if they help. If they do (or don't), please post back and let us know your progress. Thanks.

-Trip
